We hosted 7 teams and completed an almost 4 month Home Assignment of sharing in churches.
Jon got over excited and scheduled some teams to overlap. We had the opportunity to practice the phrase we share with every team. "Blessed are the flexible" It was a super busy time and we both got stretched in ways we didn't know we could stretch, by hosting teams separately. It is something we know we can do but we realized we serve better together in our ministry. It really wasn't all Jon's fault for the overlapping, it was the only times the teams could come.
We helped in the South America area for one week and then enjoyed a couple days of participating.
Both Michelle and Krista, our daughters, worked one week also. Michelle works at what is now called The Foundry-which she works in the marketing dept promoting materials and books that churches can use. Krista works for GMC Global Ministry Center for our Church in the Clergy Development Center. She is the assistant to the director and she handles arrangements for conferences and meetings. Although we were all at the same place for a week we really didn't get to see spend any quality time together. We are so proud of our girls!
We met up with friends from the past years and made new ones at different churches we spoke at.
We found some wonderful people that worked with us in Venezuela and still remembered us! What a great reunion that was!
Each church had something unique and special about them and I would love to share but no one has that much time!
The churches were so loving and caring. We have a great church family all over the US.
OK I have to list a few.
One church was meeting in a Lutheran Church
One had their own little school- it was hard to pull Shirley away.
One church was surrounded by police when we left- such a ministry there.
One church we met in a house- there were too many Crises care kits being assembled in the church
We stayed in the home of an known artist!
Frankenmuth, Michigan which just happened to be on the way to where we were speaking.
